High Fidelity[edit]
High Fidelity was a multiplayer 3d platform where you can create, host, and explore interconnected virtual worlds on desktop computers, VR headsets, and other devices. Unlike other VR platforms, High Fidelity domains were decentralized, and ccould be hosted on your own machine, cloud servers, or personal server of your choice. This means you control your own virtual space while still being interconnected with the rest of the metaverse.
Project Athena[edit]
Athena is the continuation of the High Fidelity codebase by a group of volunteers. It is an Open Source project working on continuing and improving the code.

Federated Metaverse Users[edit]
The Federated Metaverse Users (FMU, or ‘famoo’) is an organization of developers, content creators, service operators and users of social VR, building a free and wild metaverse using the High Fidelity metaverse engine and architecture.
The notion of a social VR metaverse has existed in popular culture for decades, and is only now becoming possible with the arrival of affordable VR technology, increasing technical fluency in society, and faster, more performant computers, graphics and networking. We consider ourselves among those who are making this happen!
Being the first true scalable and FOSS metaverse architecture, we’re using creating a virtual reality world-wide-web of domains, worlds, content and experiences using the High Fidelity social VR technology and its standards. While we are each developing our own worlds, content, stories and businesses using our own servers and solutions, we share this common platform among us, and the FHU is where we discuss, support and help implement the means to create an interoperable, yet wild and free, metaverse.
Would you like to participate, share, listen in and/or contribute?

Next Meeting Agenda[edit]
Propose agenda topics here, and we'll discuss which agenda topics to bring up and close or continue at the next meeting.
- Self Hosted User Inventory
- Write a guide for new users to set up their sandbox
- Write a guide for new users to set up a domain quickly/cheaply using 5usd Digital Ocean
- Test for and get real numbers for # of avatars on 5usd and 10usd Digital Ocean instances. The documentation suggestions are supposedly way off.
- Host a doxygen for the source code [Raz is willing to generate and perhaps host]
- Discuss a good first (small) community project to test ability to collaborate
- Loading indicator (e.g. x out of y objects loaded) to describe scene load status?
- Why aren't there more worlds and users?
- Are servers too expensive? If so, what could be reasonably hosted on a 10usd digital ocean instance.
- Is the first user experience too difficult? What in the interface needs to be improved?
- Does building need to be revisited and focused on?
- Inworld building
- Modal editing (think steam vr's baloon gun, laser blaster, switching mechanisms)
- NeosVR seems to acquire building tools from their community. Can an API be built to make designing building tools easier?
- E.g. - Brush template, projection onto object method, quad construction methods, etc.
- There seems to be a big blockade to converting users from tourist to builder / scripter.
- Is this evaluation correct, and how can it be improved, and what priority would this be?

Ideas & Suggestions[edit]
- Hifi Community Feedback - A site where community members can suggest feature requests or report bugs with a voting system.
- Federation Capital domain. A central and neutral place.
- Could be a simple ring of portals.
- Why not a domain subdivided in parcels (for each member) where they can set an "Embassy" (a building of their own that includes at least one portal leading to the member's world). We could impose a limit in polygon and textures to keep the "Capital" domain optimal.
- President, Project secretaries and Ratification by member votation.
